Personality[]
Cameron is a master manipulator, charismatic, persuasive, obsessive, and idealistic. He believes strongly in his vision, and that others who do not simply haven't understood it or are too selfish or ignorant to pay attention to the bigger picture. His charisma, clear vision and manipulative nature are likely the main contributing factors towards the successful formation of what's termed his cult.
While he never claimed to be a religious leader, he espouses and spreads his own invented religion, "Elementalism", within the group he formed. Many of his followers believe that he is the only one who can perform the ritual required to permanently close off hell and expel all demons, and that he is "chosen" by the "elementals". However, while this isn't a view he expresses, he chooses not to suppress it either. While some do choose not to follow "Elementalism", most in the group do, due simply to the nature of the group and social pressure.
After his return from hell, after 20 years there, Cameron naturally has suffered a lot of torture. His soul did not, however, become a demon, that much is certain. Cameron has maintained his beliefs and morality, however hypocritical that morality is, despite suffering in hell. However, the lost time and torture has certainly had an effect on him. He also returned to his two elder daughters and ex-wife being either known to be or presumed dead, while he was alive when his son died as well, there was no time for him to really process this before he died. While Cameron acts like he doesn't see that he has any responsibility for Freddie's death, characterising it as a "tragic suicide", he is clearly in denial of his role in his son's death. While this is not technically untrue it intentially avoids the fact he caused it by attempting to kill Eva.
