Jessica Kent

Template:Smallville Character Infobox Jessica II Kent (b. March 26th, 1990), also known as Jessi, Esi-El and at times Supergirl II is one of the main protagonists of Smallville. Jessica is a super-powered human with partly alien DNA. She resides in Smallville for most of her life and is the only biological daughter of farmers Jonathan and Martha Kent. She is also the adoptive sister of Clark Kent (Kal-El) and since Rosetta, his universal sister after absorbing his powers and a part of his alien DNA. She is therefore also the universal daughter of Lara-El and Jor-El and the universal cousin of Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl I.

After being held back by her parents during her first years with Kryptonian superpowers, Jessi began secretly fighting crimes around her hometown just like her brother Clark. She was many times mistaken for her brother's alias the Blur but was soon acknowledged to not be the same person and renamed the Mystic Blur. By day, she works as a newsanchor at the Metropolis news channel KZXP and manages her family's farm together with her brother as well as managing the ISIS Foundation.

For many years, none of Jessi's friends were pictured on screen but when she started High School she befriended a boy named Anthony Bara. She also started a relationship with Victor Thorne but Anthony got between them and they broke up. She maintains a strong bond with her brother's friend Chloe Sullivan and a friendship with Oliver Queen despite that she used to have a crush on him. Other known friends are Linda Vaughn, Amanda Crawford and Sarah Freeman.

After Jonathan's death, Clark started to mature more and began to worry more about the consequences of his actions. After several incidents involving his Kryptonian heritage (i.e. Kal-El's deadly encounters with Brainiac anda bond with his cousin Kara Kent), Lana's departure and Lex's constant attempts to discover his secret, Clark began to embrace his destiny as a hero, culminating in Jimmy Olsen's published photograph of the super-powered "Red-Blue Blur" on the Planet front page and the citizens adopting that name for their own vigilante. Following Jimmy's death as consequence of Clark's mistakes while trying to stop Davis Bloome/Doomsday, Clark dropped the red-and-blue look and embraced his Kryptonian side, starting to leave his family crest as a symbol of hope at the sites of his heroic feats. When Zod returned to Earth as a younger clone of himself with his army and declared war on Earth, Kal-El had several encounters with Zod. After he used the Book of Rao to send all the army to a new world, Kal-El won over Zod in a deadly battle.

When he was warned about Darkseid coming to Earth, Clark's future as a hero fell into question due to the doubts and fears in his heart. But after going with Brainiac 5 to the future, he came back with a new purpose for his crusade and recently took the next step toward the future he saw by revealing his secret to Lois, who surprised him by telling him she already knew. With his secret out of the way, and seeing how well his relationship with Lois strengthened him, Clark decided to take the next step by proposing to Lois, who accepted with great delight. He also mentored his "brother" Alexander Luthor/Conner Kent.

Clark and his allies began making preparations to defend Earth from the coming of Darkseid. In the midst of his and Lois' wedding and after a final reunion with Lex, Clark won the battle with Darkseid by mastering his ability tofly, putting on the suit, pushing Apokolips away from Earth, and finally fulfilling his destiny by becoming the Earth's greatest savior known as Superman.

Jessi is a young and beautiful caucasian female with long, curly blonde hair and fair skin, a round face, dimple chin and turquoise eyes. She grew up to approximately 5’8" tall and can usually be seen with a happy face expression.

In middle- and high school Jessi, just like her brother, wore a lot of flannel and was described as a tomboy until her Senior year when she was inspired by Chloe's new clothing style; wearing coats and boots and also straightening her hair. Later, she went on to wear t-shirts and tops and many began noticing how much she looked like her paternal grandmother whom she shares her name with. Just like Clark, she wears a lot of red and blue clothes, especially by the end of the series when she also stops straightening her hair.

• Penelope Mitchell, who portrays Jessica, is almost one year younger than her character and was 10 years old when filming the first season.
